Mark Allen Soderstrom was born and raised in California's Central Valley where he experimented with music, writing, and visual arts. While earning his BA from Humboldt State University he focused on photography, printmaking, and exhibition management. Soderstrom's work turned to more sculptural and experience-oriented projects while living in Oakland and pursuing his MFA from Mills College. He has taught at College of the Redwoods, Humboldt State University, and with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
