Biography
|
Originally from Canada, Gina Dewar has loved to create things since an early age. Her love for fabric and design led her to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where she received her BA (B.Sc.) in Home Economics. She returned to university for her teacher's certificate and has taught high school across Canada and in Florida. She took her first pottery classes in 1995 while living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her passion for clay struck immediately and she continued her ceramics studies after returning to the US, by attending workshops, community and college classes.
Before discovering clay Gina was an avid decorative painter and weaver. Today she incorporates these skills and passions into her clay work. She continues to create functional wheel-thrown work while working on mixed media wall art.
Today Gina lives in Parkland, Florida, where she works from her home studio and is attending Florida Atlantic University, studying Fine Arts.
