At the age of 13 I took my first one hour introductory to glassblowing class while sailing in the British Virgin Islands. I then moved to Olympia, Washington and as soon as I was old enough to drive began going to Tacoma on the weekends to take beginner classes in glass blowing. It was during this time that I discovered how passionate I really am about the art of hot glass. When I was 17 I moved to a boarding school in Hawaii for my senior year of High School. It was there on the Big Island of Hawaii that I met glass artist, Hugh Jenkins. I spent almost every weekend of my senior year in the guest room of his glass blowing studio. Over many hours of personal lessons, Hugh taught me to blow glass the way I do today.
