Biography
|
Born 1955 in Arkansas, USA. I've always known I am an artist. Educated at Sarah Lawrence College, the Albert-Ludwigs Universitaet, and Harvard University.
Multi-layered like my artwork, my life is a cascade of experience and relationships:
marriage and family,
Midwestern farming,
insatiable researcher,
founder (1993) and headmaster of St. Nicholas School of the Arts.

Statement
|
My love is for the moment: "this" moment in all its intoxicating nuance and complexity.
Visually, I explore the irrepressible moment with texture and color in mixed media on paper or wooden panels. Layer upon layer of wet and dry media (acrylic, egg tempera, pastel, pencil, crayon) are built up until the fullest expression of the Now is reached. The finished artwork is a wealth of textural relationships: some deep-layered and densely- hued; others giving a superficial appearance of simplicity. Such is life.
