Don Maestro's works bring us to the edge of imagination, and when we reach this edge, we become seduced by a world full of emotions and sensations.
There is a resemblance between Don Maestro and his works: we feel a strong personnality, but the gentleness of his vision reveals to us an extreme sensibility and inner growth.
Born Claude Charles Houde, in Montreal (Quebec, Canada)in 1958, he graduated from College Andre Grasset. Already, in 1975, he let go of previous influences and created his own personal style, using his medium of choice: acrylic.
The transparence and hues of his subjects, the delicate blending nuances, the subtlety of the lines suggesting us to discover what is beyond the painting, all indispensable to the integrity of his art.
His works are appreciated and collected worldwide for both, the visual pleasure and the comforting of the soul.
It is almost impossible to describe this artist in just a few words. But one look at his paintings will suffice to tickle your mind. What words cannot describe, the eyes will assimilate.
Don Maestro's paintings tend to seduce at first sight. The geometrical forms and the way he uses pure lines show a beautiful simplicity.
He's always searching for new inspiration. His love of nature will bring him renewed images which he compiles. He doesn't reproduce them, he displaces them in space and re-arranges the subject. He works with light and contrasts.
Don Maestro uses a lot of spontaneity in his work which lets him release his inner self. He works the spatula into his artworks to bring out a texture, mixed with the vibrancy of colors to achieve the illusion: between dream and reality.
