Biography
|
|
Fred Powell was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. He and his brother ran a third generation family business, Powell Garage. When he retired in 2005, he started taking art lessons from Adult Ed. He has been doing plein air landscpape paintings in oil since then. He is an active member of S.C.A.P.E and has studied with John Iwerks, Micheal Drury, Thomas Van Stein, Wyllis Heaton, Phil Stark and Larry Iwerks.

Statement

Landscape painting, like all art, is about the perception of the artist. I continue to strive for simplicity in all aspects of my work as that creates the clearest expression of my vision and emotions. Painting outside in Santa Barbara is an inspiration.
