Doug Simpson's studio and gallery is located in Denison Texas a few minutes north of Dallas. He is president of Artplace, Inc. operating a retail art gallery and wholesale art distribution company.
He holds a BA in Art Education.

Statement

?Doug Simpson's passion is to produce art from inspiration and with spontaneity. Because of this his works have a varied content and span many different mediums. Doug works in various sculpture and painting mediums including clay, metals, leather, oils, acrylics, and digital. His abstract wall sculpture paintings include a base canvas painting with additions of natural materials such as leather, feathers, skins, tobacco, sawdust and wood chips, animal hair and fur, as well as fired clay and wood.
Many of Doug's works are offered in giclee prints on canvas and paper. Some are embellished with acrylics, oils, and applied textures and materials. Some are also offered in unembellished giclee prints of original works in various media.
His work includes many commissions in portraits of people, animals, architecture, and boats. He also works with underwater photographer Cassandra Buck producing collaborative pieces from the undersea world. Weekend sailing with his sons inspire the paintings of Lake Texoma and its sailing community.
