Biography

Matt Nash is an American painter, currently working on his ELEMENTS series. He has studied Art at the University of Utah and has worked in Art Education, teaching K-12 art students. Nash enjoys the privilege of sharing his passion for the arts with the next generation, hoping to inspire a young painter or two along the way.

Statement

Creating art is as much about the process-oriented journey, as the end result. The window of introspection allows me to experience a heightened sense of awareness as I paint.
I strive to bring my passion for sculpture to life in my paintings.
My canvasses become three-dimensional reliefs. The use of form and texture combine to create `elements,' conveying that we can never truly elude nature.
I want observers to interact with my work, to feel free to touch my paintings. Touching art is a natural human behavior that we are all inclined to do - yet we are shied away from - often because of those little men in the dark suits telling us not to touch.
