Biography
|
Zaal Svanishvili is a professional artist and illustrator. He was born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, on Aprl 21 of 1964. He holds his M.A. degree in Graphic Arts from the State Academy of Fine Arts (Tbilisi, Georgia) and B.A. degree with Honors in Painting/Teaching from Nicoladze Art college (Georgia). Since 1976 he is a participant of national and international exhibitions. His awards include:
1976 - Third place. Group exhibition dedicated to children, Georgia.
1988 - First place. Group exhibition of Exli-bris, Academy of Fine Arts, Georgia.
2003 - Third place. Group exhibition. Poster contest and exhibition by organization ICBL Georgia, Netherlands & Thailand.
Since 1997 Zaal has been a member of Georgian Artist's Union.
He has illustrated more than 50 books, and created works for numerous companies and institutions. Currently Zaal works as an artist/designer for Busy Bee-jewelry company, NYC, US. Prior to moving to United States in 2006 as a permanent resident, Zaal was an Associate Professor of the Department of Monumental Decorative Art at Academy of Fine Arts, Tbilisi, Georgia. He was teaching drawing. Zaal's work experience includes working as an graphic artist and illustrator for newspapers and magazines. Since 1991 Zaal has worked as a freelance artist as well.
Zaal's wife Tamar is a professional artist, and they live with their two children in New York.

Statement

1991-2006 Academy of Fine Arts, Tbilisi, monumental-decorative art department. Professor of drawing. 2003 masters degree in fine Arts.
Mythography is an illustration of Myths. Zazas artworks show Georgian Myths and archaic culture, which is different and distinctive. They are done in form of the miniature. Artwork frames are filled by his own drawings. Artist used watercolor, acryl and ink. Also he uses very difficult technique for his art works.
