Biography
|
Trained in watercolor in the very best place, Provence, where the colors match the scenery and everything is eminently alive and full of beauty,most of these paintings will brighten your day. Painting on-site is the most satisfying thing in the world.Retha attended High School in Birmingham Alabama, graduating in 1968 and attended college in Mississippi. She is married and has three children, one of whom is an artist and has his work in several galleries in the Birmingham area.
After having lived in Denton, Texas and in Biloxi Mississippi as well as New Orleans, Retha returned to Birmingham and her roots. Her sister is Janice Russell Beck, an artist well known in the Atlanta metro area and Marietta for her watercolor works.

I believe that color in all it's shades and hues should always be "right there in your face" to make you aware of your surroundings and that you are truly alive and part of a wonderful world.I enjoy vibrant and extreme colors, they make me feel alive and in love with every place that I go. Color is "my thing"
