Painting on location requires speed as the sunlight travels fast.

D. at age 15

A painting from life of a girl at age 15. There is much symbolism throughout the painting. It is an age of discovery and questioning and doors will open and close as she progresses from childhood to adulthood. Her expression, is she looking at you or past you, or just what is she thinking, leads to the intrigue of this particular painting. This is an oil on masonite panel and is beautifully mounted in a black and gold frame.

Sunset on Venice Canal

The atsmoshere and colrs are extroadinary in this city on the water. This painting was inspired by my visits to Venice. I love the painted buildings which add so much color to the water reflections.

Elmer

I was doing some outdoor landscape painting on Elmer's farm when Elmer rode up on his riding lawn tractor. I asked to paint him while he sat on his lawn mower. He was wearing that silly hat which seemed unique if not incongruous on the old good-natured farmer. He kept up a running conversation during the 45minutes it took to do the painting. Yes, it looks just like him.

D. the Reporter

I chose a larger canvas for D. because of her luxurient long curly hair. She chatted and smiled the entire time which made the hour pass very quickly . The water is low and many stones are exposed. This is a view of early springtime looking out the windows. A large beech tree grows very close to the windows. This painting was painted on location and will be part of a series representing the 4 seasons as seen from the shed windows . The windows provide a nice framing for the viewer to rest his eyes and take in the details of the view.

three miles below Halton

This was painted while standing on a rock in the middle of the Clarion River on a beautiful summer afternoon.

Sporner's Pond

Painted on location at what was a favorite Monet spot.
