Ingres being my particular favourite.
I was compelled to make a simple yet powerful statement about the beauty of the subject and the play of light on his face.

Still Life with Tea Pot

Blue Bowl with Three Oranges

I love the challenge of taking every day, mundane objects and presenting them in a way that motivates the viewer to look beyond the obvious, and find beauty and depth in the subtle changes of colour and light.

Marriage Values

Coffee Pot

I love the challenge of taking every day, mundane objects and presenting them in a way that motivates the viewer to look beyond the obvious, and find beauty and depth in the subtle changes of colour and light.

Emilia

The Secret Book

The Secret Book is an example of oil painting using the Old Master Technique. It is a charming study of a boy sitting on a cushion watching the book in which he wishes to discover the secret of life.
The boy is sitting in a dark room in the early morning; he is wearing a light nigh-shirt. The artist wanted to show the contrast of colour with dark curtain and white nigh-shirt and the light coming through the window. The artist created a tranquil atmosphere of the early morning day so vivid that one can almost see the vive interest of the boy reading the secret book.

The artist has placed her subject against a red umbrella which serves as an ideal background for the beautiful young Japanese geisha with her black hair and dark eyes, completing the traditional highly colourful kimono she is wearing with extravagant obi. Obi ( literally "sash"?) is a sash for traditional Japanese dress, keikogi worn for Japanese martial arts, and a part of kimono outfits.
Geisha are traditional, female Japanese entertainers whose skills include performing various Japanese arts such as classical music and dance.
The hairstyles of geisha have varied through history. In the past, it has been common for women to wear their hair down in some periods, but up in others. During the 17th century, women began putting all their hair up again, and it is during this time that the traditional shimada hairstyle, a type of traditional chignon worn by most established geisha, developed.
