Using a computer is as natural as eating or sleeping for the next generation. They will grow up embracing new technologies, developing them and as technology will develop, our children will befriend technology, making it part of them, becoming part of it.

The technological construction is a model I created using the Silo3d software. It is made out of four simple torus shapes. The background is a symmetrical lattice and a cloud plane added in Bryce. The textures where created and edited in Bryce. The baby is the Millennium Baby from DAZ3d. I used DAZ|Studio to pose him and Bryce to edit his skin and eye textures. After rendering this piece I made some minor changes using Photoshop Elements.

Duality

As a digital artist and an electronic musician, the computer is my working tool. It's my canvas, my brush, my color pallet as well as my keyboard and orchestra. In reality, a computer is nothing but a sophisticated calculator. It actually understands only two thing - the digit "0" and the digit "1". I find this duality fascinating, this Neanderthal thinker with his two digits as a tool for creating unlimited virtual worlds of art and music. In this piece, I depict the computer as a rough stone, some stone-age relic, while his screen is displaying a montage of some notes from my music and video art of an actual work I created called "Thorn".

I sculptured the model of the computer using the Wings3d software and imported it into Bryce, where I added the materials for both keyboard and screen frame of the computer. The background was created using a single Symmetrical Lattice, a Water Plane and the Sky controls. The notes where taken from screen captures of Reason, the software I use to create music. I edited the screen captures of the notes using Photoshop Elements and added the screen capture of the video art, then I imported the screen capture into the screen of the computer in Bryce and rendered the work.

Back Alley Fish Gallery

This piece was created for The Abyss show. In this, a sea curator chose some of my works for a back alley sea gallery, and he is using the local sea life as canvases for displaying it.

For this work I used some models from the DAZ3d website. First I used the Back Alley model, created by Stonemason. I imported it into Bryce and added a Water Plane which I than placed at the top of the buildings, cutting them off to create an underwater feel. At this point, I also added some Jungle Vines. I changed the sky setting to night time and added some light gels to simulate the underwater feel. For the various sea creatures in this scene, I used the Sea Life Packs, again from DAZ3d. I imported them into Bryce and used some of my other artworks as their materials. That way, the sea creatures have been transformed into a living gallery of my work.

May I Scream Now?

This is my scream. It can't be heard, but it's always there, lurking, trying to get out, powered by it's friend, the nightmare dog and held back by it's worst enemy, the toon fish.

I started this piece by posing the man, the dog and the fish in DAZ|Studio, taking special care on the expressions I gave them. I exported them into Bryce, positioned them, changed the material of the toon fish and added some lighting. I also added some ice, and buried the man inside it for some added affect. I changed the color of the sky and lighting to achieve a toon feel, then I rendered the scene. I opened the rendered scene in Photoshop elements, where I erased the man's mouth using the clone tool and some patterns I created by sampling pieces of his face and neck.

Spider Ice

The spidery web is lazily scratching across the foggy mountain. The ice sky is melting into it, reviling color lights within it. A glimpse of alien technology is reviled.

This piece was created using Bryce software. It involves three ground planes, one for the melting sky, one for the foggy mountain and one for the spidery tentacles. For complete effect I used some delicate sky and fog manipulation.

Thorn Cage

A heart is being kept in a thorn cage and guarded by two sculls. This piece is about the fear of loosing someone you love.

I modeled the basic shapes of the scull, the thorn cage and the heart using Wings3d. I imported all my models into Bryce and created textures for them. I positioned them, added a Ground Plane and a Cloud Plane and created textures for both of them. I added some lighting, and changed the Haze color to red, then I rendered my work.

Spheroid

Facing the Spheroid, there's a light shining through. It's the light of knowledge, it's the light of wisdom, it's the light shining through new technologies, advancing the human race to a new horizon.

I started by modeling the Spheroid using Wings 3D. I started with a simple sphere, used the Cut and Connect command to create the polygons I needed, then I used the Extrude command to get the final result. I imported the Spheroid to Bryce, added two endless plains, on on the bottom and one on top. I gave both the plains and the Spheroid a material I created using Bryce presets and changing them, then I changed the horizontal haze to yellow. I used DAZ|Studio to morph the face of the Michael 3.0 model, then I imported him into Bryce. I positioned everything and added a single yellow light, which I placed inside the Spheroid. I changed the face color to yellow and rendered the piece. The render took three days.

Ghost in the Machine

She is the ghost in the machine. She is the human component in the artificial. She is the connection between technology and biology. She is the real in the unreal.

I created the background in Bryce, using a two globes, one inside the other, with some carefully constructed materials. The model is a morphed version of Victoria 3.0 from DAZ with the addition of wavy hair. I created a new material for the model, and used some carefully placed lights to create the ghostly effect.

Frequencies

Frequencies are all around us, in color, in sound, in the air and in the water. Frequencies have the shape of chaos. They are both random and highly organized. Frequencies are the shapes and sounds of life.

This piece was created using DAZ|Bryce. I applied two symmetrical lattices and an endless plane. I gave them a carefully constructed material, enlarged one of the lattices and positioned it so that half of it is underneath the endless plane, positioned the second lattice inside the first and the camera inside the first lattice. I added a soft spot light and placed it inside the smaller lattice.

Reflections

Reflection of pure thought, a pure play of light, transparencies and dreams, forged in light and fire.

This work was created using DAZ|Bryce. This work contains one lattice and one stone, with transparent, carefully chosen materials. I changed the environmental controls using a custom setting to achieve the color reflections needed for this work, and placed the stone inside the lattice, and the camera inside the stone.
