This wall art is a large 3-piece set made up of repurposed mid-century wood pressed trays. (turned backwards to get the depth.)

Multiple layers of stripes were handpainted on the entire space of the 3 pieces. Then the stripes are protected in the location of the trees while high gloss black lacquer covers the rest of the background.

When I first started working with my series of "Trees Revealed" it was hard to paint over the stripes, as they are usually bold and beautiful just standing on their own. But I wanted to push myself to take the depth of the piece further and dare to paint over them. Trees Revealed is the product of pushing past the boundaries of one layer and exposing multiple layers of complicated patterns. It's a lot like real life.

The entire pieces is covered in a thick coat of high gloss clear lacquer.

Feel free to contact me for more information, questions or comments. I also can make custom works using the colors schemes, size, etc. you desire.

-One Thousand, Two hundred and Ninety-Two seperate pieces-

1,292 Individual Pieces Comprise this is an incredible one of a kind art piece!

Aren't we all just parts of the whole?
I love repurposing items into thought provoking modern art - and this one was a real labor of love!
It took 3 days of gluing alone!
There are 1,292 individual square repurposed pieces to this work.
I traveled all over looking for these letters to disassemble and ultimately had enough to tackle the image that had been blazing in my dreams for a while.
Bold yellow and blue letters are in mostly random pattern allowing the viewer to find there own discoveries.
Each of the wooden tiles are individually prepared and then painted with a unique 'mini painting." No two are exactly alike. The letter tiles, wooden painting tiles, and repurposed mirror pieces were then hand glued one by one to a 2 inch thick hollow core wood backing.
This piece was a real challenge but I was happy with the finished product. It reminds me of some of the words and letter work done by the late and great Rosalie Gascoigne (who by the way did not have her work appreciated fully by the public until she was in her late 50s - that is certainly encouraging!!)

- Large sculptural piece measuring 40" x 36" x 2"
- Each 1,292 squares- including letters, painted wooden tiles, and small square mirror pieces - individually prepared.
- wooden tiles were each seperately hand painted
- then each piece lovingly hand glued with care and love (took over 3 days just to do the gluing! :-) )
- each square pieces attached to a 2 inch hollow core wood backing
- vibrant and rich colors
- entire piece hand coated in a thick high gloss lacquer finish
- truly a beautiful one of a kind sculpture that is a real conversation piece
- thought provoking detail
- better than a painting...wall sculpture creates depth and detail interest that you don't get with a flat painting.

I am really proud of this particular work. It was inspired by the incredible work of Rosalie Gascoigne who blazed a trail of a different kind long before her time. (As a side note her work did not become popular until later in life --that is really encouragin!)
This was a very laborous and time intensive project ---but was worth the effort to acheive the end result.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks!
