Statement
|
Having been absorbed with motion â?" via dance, theater and filmmaking -- Iâ?Tve come to a place where Iâ?Tm fascinated with those moments between motion, between breaths. As the title of one of my films expresses, â?oCIRCLING THE SQUAREâ??, itâ?Ts the process of movement that truly fascinates me.
I would hope that as one absorbs and touches one of my sculpture pieces â?" and indeed theyâ?Tre meant to be touched â?" the formal elements such as the interplay of angles, etc., will create active interaction and participation in the viewer. And that, as a result of that process, new discoveries would continue to occur, the sculpture itself acting as a catalyst and not a static piece.
I believe that kinesthetic emotional movement leads to an intellectual process inward and then out again, evolving continually to a deeper and more profound understanding of our surroundings and of ourselves.
