The "Extraordinary Journey" paintings were inspired by my eight day, 3000 km driving trip through the desert. I found the dunes to be a magical place, with colours that I never thought could be possible in such a vastness of sand.
My paintings are pictorial dramas, sometimes turbulent and sublime; sometimes placid and pastoral. With gold leaf, I acknowledge the cultural history of gold, but also the landscape.
The dominant motif in these otherwise acrylic paintings are clusters of gold leaf squares. Plays with contrast, articulate the tension occurring when cultural and natural forms are integrated for several reasons.
