Transito Trujillo

Biography
|
Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico and spent his earliest years on a ranch. He's a painter of whom it could be said, "painting is in his blood." He began drawing and painting as early as he can remember winning recognition and numerous awards while still in school. (His High School Yearbook shows him selected "Most Talented.") He received formal training at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, in Augusta, Georgia and the University of Albuquerque, but much of his training has been self taught; learning by observing, reading, and experimenting. He enjoys painting plein aire and has worked with watercolor, pastels, acrylic and oil. He has also created several pieces of sculpture. His paintings cover a wide range of subject matter. The effects of light and shadow and the reflections of color on nearby objects are his strongest interest in his paintings. Transito believes art should evoke an emotion and especially enjoys a painting that creates a mood, or makes a statement. He has perfected his talent and evolved into a master painter. His paintings range from the essence of solitude, the pain of poverty, to the joy of children, beauty of the countryside, and even a touch of humor. He has always had a strong sense of adventure. He joined the Air Force and volunteered to go to Vietnam twice as an elite Pararescuemen; flying close to 200 combat rescue missions. Returning, he traveled the world, climbing mountains, SCUBA diving, parachuting and seeing places most of us can only dream of. He served as primary rescue team leader for the Apollo and Sky Lab Missions; all the while, painting and drawing during his "down time." After 26 years in the Armed Services he returned to his first love. PAINTING! Transito now paints full time. His talent is evident and a promising future waits his works. *
