A Journalist by profession and working as a feature editor/ cartoonist in various media, finally I discovered my artistic side and then this was no looking back. Training at PKK, Chandigarh from Kolkutta zone, for 5 years provided the perfect mould for my creativity. Art helped to deeply feel and understand the shades of life, the understanding of which would not have been possible otherwise.
I have been sketching and painting for the last twenty five years. I was born in Bihar but had spent most of my teenage life in Dhanbad and Kolkutta. My work during training period shows a clear influence of Indian culture and erotica.
The process of creativity calls for an exploration of the subconscious mind. The artist dives within and comes out with fascinating images of life with its realities and mysteries.
Nature and beauty moves to peace and stillness and also moves the mind to a journey of inner experiences. I have studied portraits and nudes and developed own distinct style, texturally rich yet simple, devoid of unnecessary clutter. I have faced many of the problems in daily life that he depicts in my some paintings. I chooses the medium that is best known to portray the emotions, aspirations and frustrations of ordinary people around me coping with my daily lives. My use of warm subdued colors enhances the somber mood and atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression of the image on the onlooker.
My first solo exhibition in Kolkutta in 1997, and again in New Delhi in 1998 and 1999, major group exhibition in Mumbai in 2001 and again solo exhibition in allahabad in 2002. In the last twenty years, I have exhibited my work in most of the prestigious art galleries, holding several solo shows and have participated in many major group exhibitions in India. Awarded BSP Kolkutta Gold Plaque in 1994. Apart from sketching & painting, I am also involved in Multimedia and media promotion.
