Biography

Christian Milagros Charinna Yolamis Martinez Brito was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on June 1st , 1979. As a child she started leaning towards the Visual Arts, drawing the letters in her notebooks, books, and participating in Art activities at Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Guadalupe.
In 1991 Christian was referred and accepted at the Central High School of Visual Arts, in which Christian specialized in the practice and theory of Drawing & Painting for six years. It was there where Christian studied and showed a fascination with the Arts, specifically with Surrealism and Expressionism.
By 1997, "Chary" as many people call her, finished her studies at Central High School and graduated with honors in History with a Diploma in Drawing and Painting.
Her interest to communicate drives her to study Public Communications at the University of
Puerto Rico, in San Juan with a major in Journalism and a minor in Production & Direction.
At the same time she was studying Arts, at the Fine Arts Department of the same Institution.
At this moment, Christian have just finished her Master's Degree in Fine Arts of Film at the Miami
International University of Art & Design, combining this way her love for Visual Arts with Communications.
"My style is unreal, pretentious,
ironic, strange and
autobiographic. Everything I
paint it is in my heart and in my
thoughts. You can definitely
decipher me through my art. "

Statement
|
|
My name is Christian, and I was given that name in honor of Jesus Christ; he gave me life, and he gave me Art, and through my brushes I honor his name.
As a Visual Artist, I pretend to present the infinite and marvelous world of my imagination. My artwork represents an autobiography in the most sensitive,
cosmic, strange, satirist, rebel, naïve, sensual and enchanted way.
My work it is only a reflection of my self, life experiences, ideologies, beliefs, fears, memories and desires; in an invented galaxy full of dimensions, colors, light, characters and Surrealism.
I just like to paint, create and enjoy the process. I speak through the canvas what it comes from my mind and my heart. I have been painting for 18 years of my life, and this is what truly makes me feel alive, gives me joy, peace, a purpose
and happiness.
I hope you enjoy my artwork, as much as I do. My words are sometimes counted when it comes to speak, but my Art is full of thousands of stories that probably one day I will be able to share with you.
