Biography

I was born in Houston, TX in 1979. I remember drawing at an early age on blank pages in my school workbooks, and any page with space. In 1992 I moved to East Texas where I would graduate from Hudson High School in 1997. In January of 2000 I transferred to the University of North Texas to complete a Bachelors Degree in Visual arts in May of 2002. My ambition was to become involved with the computer game industry. In the post 9/11 job market I was unable to secure a career. I found work at a telemarketing firm, and in my spare time I returned to drawing with pastels. In 2003 I began to expand on my Ovisual vocabularyO with books about; the abstract expressionist movement, Japanese design, skyscrapers, and ancient Celtic designs. My art starts with a blank piece of paper. I use broad strokes of complimentary colors in the beginning that sets the foundation for the drawing, on which detail is later added. I listen to music while drawing to set a rhythm to move to while making marks on the paper. The only goal that I have while drawing is to create something that does not look like anything that I have seen before, but looks exactly like it should. A push and pull effect is created between the warm and cool colors which demands the attention of the eye. I prefer to work non-objectively, but I am not going to limit myself to an exclusive subject matter. The art I create exists to interact with the viewer and capture their attention.
My favorite artists are; Van Gogh, Mondrian, Pollock, Escher, Kandinsky, and Warhol.
