Biography
|
My name is Maya and I grew up in Texas. I studied art in undergrad at Tulane University, graduating with degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology and Studio Art with a focus in Painting and Photography. After I graduated, I attended Johns Hopkins University and completed a Master of Arts in Medical Illustration. It was there that I developed my love of the human form and wanted to study more of it. I applied to medical school and finally attended the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel.
I still continue to paint everyday and sketch and paint my thoughts and visions whenever they need a form on paper. Even though I don't get much time as a doctor, I am able to be closest to my thoughts when i am sitting across from the canvas with a paintbrush in my left hand and the colors in my right. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy creating these paintings.

Statement
|
I don't have a statement. My paintings are a collection of my thoughts and reflections on the different cities I have lived in and people I have met.
My goal in making some of the paintings is to relay the spirit of certain situations. Thus some pictures just need to be felt by the observer. Don't take them for face value just concentrate on HOW they make you feel. That's all.
