Why are you an artist?
Because I would go completely nuts if I did not express myself artisticall, my closest know how moody I get if I dont paint for a long time.
Tell us something about your artwork.
My artwork and the process of creating my art relaxes me and makes me feel complete,it is very satisfying when I see a finished work-though my mind is already working on the next project.
Tell me about yourself, where you live and your
At the moment I live in Barcelona Spain, originally I am from Denmark- Copenhagen.I like to live a stressfree life, I dont need very much, I spend most of my time being creative. I have a parttime job as a bartender, the job gives me more social life, because I have a tendency to stay at home- with the work I have to get out.
How did you get your start in the arts?
It was automatically, ever since I can remember I have been creative.
What are some highlights of your art career so far?
The satisfaction of realizing that others like what I do-and knowing that my work is hanging in peoples homes and that they are happy with it.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I dont know- but it would be nice if I had a huge studio, and enough money so that I could dedicate all of my time to working with my art.
Whose work do you relate to most?
I relate to everything I see.
Who or what inspires you?
The inspiration come from my inner need to paint and draw- the ideas pop up in my head constantly, especially when I am working on one piece then I am thinking about new ideas for other pieces.
What is your vision for your work?
To create something that strikes others, and to express what I have inside.
What is your artistic medium of choice?
I like lots of different medias-but oilpaint is my favorite.
Why that medium?
Because of the rich life oilpaint carries.
Does your medium affect your vision?
My optical paintings affect my vision.
What does your art stand for?
My optical paintings stand for the beauty of simplicity and are very clean. My abstract paintingsexpress the chaos on the other side of me.
Have you experimented with different mediums or
I like to experiment with everything-experimeting makes life richer.
How do you think / want other people to respond to your art?
However they want.
What do you believe makes your artwork unique or unusual?
I dont know if my art is unique or unusual-I know that I am.
Do you tell stories with your work? If so, what types of stories or themes do you tell?
In some of my work there is a story-but I like people to see what they see -to see their own story.
Is there one word or sentence that defines your artwork?
split personality !
What inspires you to create and what keeps you motivated on a ?creative block? day in the studio?
Everything inspires me-if I am blocked I just keep on going.
What methods do you use to organize your time?
No methods, I am totally and utterly disorganised.
Do you go through any rituals when you paint?
No I dont have any rituals
What is your favorite and least favorite part about the ?business? of art?
I love creating- and I am a complete failure at presenting myself with my work-me alone no problem, but I tend to get shy about my work. That is why I have started to get more of my art out on the internet-it is easier for me to present myself through this medium-and I am hoping to eventually work up more confidence to go out and be part of the scene.
How do you keep the business and creative sides separate? Or do you?
I dont think that I keep the two sides apart-I try to combine it.
How do you define ?success? in the arts?
I define success in the arts -if it makes someone-just one then that is sufficient for me.
What advice would you give to new artists or those just starting out?
To just do whatever they feel-you got to live life to the fullest and live in the moment-you never know what is gonna happen next-so the most important thing in life is that you can look yourself in the eyes.
What other interests do you have (other than creating your artwork)?
I love to cook, play pool,snooker and darts-I love good redwine-enjoying life-my dog,my friends.
How do you think the arts are treated around the world?
I dont know-at times overrated-at times underrated-that is a very difficult question to answer-I am not fond of critics or narrowsighted people- I believe you should be open to others ideas and try to understa them,to be open and appreciative doesnt mean that you have to like everything or praise everything-but you can try to understand it.
Whose artwork do you think has most influenced art in the 20th Century?
I think that Dali and Warhol has had a profound influence.
What is your impression of where art is headed in this century?
I think too much is getting too commercial-in the end the personality is stripped from the work and then the work looses its edge-the element that makes it immortal-and gives it life and meanig for hundreds of years.
