Statement
|
My practice functions as a response to the environment in which it's placed. This aspect is what makes the work alive; it acts as a mirror and an interpretation. I am interested in the here and now. Similar to the principles of jazz in that the structural abyss that distinguishes the work functions paradoxically as both an aesthetic signature of conceptual/performative singularity and as a disorienting repetition of philosophical/improvisatory intensities. The paradox lies in the tension between the imperative to repeat antecedent structures and the necessity to do so in a way that expresses originality.
