Kelly Singleton

Biography
The art of Kelly Singleton reflects her life-long love for wildlife and wild places. With stunning realism, she strives to accurately portray her subjects and their natural habitats. Whether this versatile artist chooses to use watercolor, oil, pastel, or acrylic, she is able to breathe life into her subjects. Kelly was raised in Bel Air, Maryland. From a very young age, she was gifted at art and had a deep love and fascination for animals. Naturally, animals (especially horses) were her favorite art subjects. She knew early on that she wanted to be an artist and she credits her parents for encouraging her desire to pursue art. Kelly holds a B.F.A. in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She has trained at artist workshops with notable wildlife artists: Robert Bateman, John Banovich, Dan Smith, Matthew Hillier, the late Paco Young, Julie Chapman, and Andrew Denman. Her work is found in private collections across the United States and has been displayed in numerous regional and national shows, most notably, the highly competitive Birds in Art exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and the Society of Animal Artists Art and the Animal exhibition. She holds memberships in the prestigious Society of Animal Artists (SAA), Artists for Conservation (AFC), and the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS). The SAA recognized Kelly's work for two consecutive years with the Evelyn & Peter Haller Distinguished Young Artist Award in 2006 and the Don Eckelberry Scholarship Award in 2007. Her work has also toured nationally with the SAA. Kelly and her husband Jimmy live in Havre de Grace, MD near the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay. They share their home with one spoiled Boxer, Max. She finds inspiration for her art through observing animals and nature, as well as time spent traveling, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking.
