Biography

|
I'm a stay-at-home dad for my three boys while my wife works as middle-school counselor. I teach watercolor painting at the nearby Pennsylvania State University and have done so for many years now. I've also shown my work in pencil, watercolor and oil paint at various local shows. All this when I am not making dinner or a hamster cage.
My college and graduate education is in English and Psycology, not art. As far as art education, Highschool is where I received by best training from a great teacher. There I learned how to use different mediums and to aim my natural ability for details at capturing the beauty of nature. Nowadays I try to capture faces. And it's not always easy. Each portrait turns out to be an education ... and a pleasure.

I use an ordinary pencil to draw portraits from your photo. I let the pencil lines show as much as possible and gradually add more detail toward the eyes to convey the subject's personality.
