Olga Sugden
|
Biography
|
Olga Sugden was born in Lviv, Ukraine in 1962, where she received an education in textile arts, and later, book illustration. Her experience included textile design, theatre stage set design, and book illustration.
In 1990, Olga emigrated to Canada, where her works were exhibited in Toronto, London, Chicago and Detroit. She settled in Vancouver, BC, where she has lived for the past 8 years with her family.
In her latest body of figurative/abstract work, her love of illustration is well evident. She always tries to produce paintings that uplift, inspire and give hope for the future. In these recent oils she explores a number of themes which could best be described as a 'celebration of life and living'.
Olga likes a painting to have a story behind it, and she uses humour and sentiment wherever possible.
