Biography
|
|
Doug is a native of Chicago, Illinois and received his degree in Art with an emphasis in Printmaking from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He began as a designer in Chicago before moving to Peoria, Illinois. Doug is currently a Graphic Designer in Peoria, Illinois at the University of Illinois College of Medicine as well as a successful artist.
It is being raised in a large urban setting than inspires Doug to create art that includes imagery that is recognizable and easy to understand. He believes art should be a fun non-complicated experience that relates to everyone.
Doug's work continues to be supported around Chicago and recently he decided to also focus on Peoria. Thanks to the internet and various sources for artists to share their works with folks around the world, Doug received numerous contacts on the international market. Requests for commissions are welcomed but not always fullfilled as he continues to stick to a self-promise to "only do what I believe is right for my art and will not sell out for anything."

Statement

|
I enjoy accessibility and simple subject matter in art. The simple recognizable imagery
to me does not take away from the individual purpose and significance of the piece. My work is no different, I want people to look at my art and take from it exactly what they see. There is no hidden meaning or purpose which to me keeps the works accessible to everyone on some level.
