Biography

I know that these things are supposed to be written in the third person, but I abhor the concept.
I was born in 1944 in New York at West Point Military Academy, as the result of my father being involved in a war about which my current college students know very little.
I earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of South Carolina. There have been many post graduate workshops, etc.
After many years of leading high school students to the trough, I currently teach Art History at a local college.
I have two children, three beautiful grandchildren and a fourth on the way. They light up my life.

Statement

At a very early age, I knew that Art would be my reason for living. It continues to serve that purpose. After many years working with metals, I have returned to my original passions: drawing and painting.
I started learning to draw at an early age with a strong desire to draw what I saw. I think that is why my drawings remain representational with a lot of heat. I learned to paint at a more mature age, able to accept the abstract concept, so my paintings are more abstract.
I work with texture, color and composition to express impressions, thoughts, etc.
I like for my work to light up my life. I sincerly hope that it does the same for you.

I am afraid that Reatha has not done a very good job of keeping up with this sort of thing for the last few years. Perhaps after digging through some records, she can come up with information a bit more specific than there have been exhibitions, awards, etc.
