Statement
|
I consider myself to be a figurative painter. My work focuses on the human condition and relationships between people. I am always trying to define human emotions in my paintings and a lot of my images are self portraits in many ways. I am inspired by the people and events that take place in my own life and I draw from that when I am working. Situations like isolation, anxiety, separation, sadness, and confusion are often themes in my work. I also like to observe people in common situations and find uncommon circumstances in their actions. Through the use of different materials, I try to build deep and complicated surfaces and compositions that leave the viewer wondering and questioning what my images and figures are about.
